12 Ay Önce

Hello, I am Apak Mehmet Can. I was born in Turkey on 10.10.2000. I finished elementary school in Turkey, secondary school in France and high school in Germany. I am currently a third year law student at Galatasaray University in Turkey. I would like to thank the Cevka association for giving me the opportunity to participate in my first Erasmus Plus project. We went to the island of Mayotte on 02.03.2023 and stayed until 15.03.2023 for an Erasmus Plus project. The aim of this project was environmental sustainability. Before starting this project I had never been to an island and I had never been to a French department other than metropolitan France. So it was an adventure where I got out of my comfort zone to discover different types of people with different cultures, customs, traditions and languages in a climate that was unknown to me. We were surrounded by our friends from Norway, Denmark, Turkey and Mauritius. The people of Mauritius were very welcoming and warm which made it easy to get in touch with them. Being sociable by nature, I was able to create many links with many people that I would surely dream of in the future, which shows that with the help of this project we can get to know people from all over the world without having to go there and that these links can continue to exist outside the project. This project also allowed me to have a huge awareness about the environment through the activities we did such as separating the garbage (glass, cardboard, plastic), protecting the mangroves, reducing pollution etc. I think we need to do many more projects like this to make people understand the importance of nature and the environment. Because in many countries people are not aware or need to learn more to protect their environment. We also had the chance to do other activities such as kayaking, soccer, hiking, camping. These enriching activities allowed us to bring the participants a little closer together. We had the opportunity to present the Turkish culture with traditional dances (halay), dishes and desserts. In the same way we got to know the culture of Danish, Norwegian and Mauritian people. Now when I go to Norway or Denmark I won't have to Google what I should or shouldn't do. I also got to know the Mauritian cuisine and this experience has enriched my knowledge of the cooking world. In this project I learned to live with a group of people, I learned about their daily life, their occupations and their expectations. I was able to improve my English and French. During these 15 days I was very far from my home but the experiences, the beauty of the nature, the climate and the people were so great that I didn't feel a big miss for my home. The project changed many youngsters’ view of how to be active in society, both on a national and on a European level. For me, this is Erasmus teaching: learning from each other in a really nice environment allowing to have fun and important workshops. At that time, Erasmus completely changed my youth work and today. I am very satisfied with my first Erasmus plus project, I hope that I will have the opportunity to participate in another Erasmus plus project with the CEVKA association
