APV 24-27 March 2023, Subotica, Serbia
Between March 24-27, 2023, we had the opportunity to participate in the APV of the 'Re-framing Narratives about People on Move' project hosted by Serbia in the city of Subotica. The meeting was attended by representatives from Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Macedonia, and Poland, all of whom are collaborating to re-frame narratives about people on the move.
As the world faces an ongoing migration crisis, it is more important than ever to have conversations and develop new strategies that help us understand the root causes of migration, support migrants, and address the challenges that they face. During the meeting, we had the chance to discuss these issues and more, and to share ideas and best practices with our colleagues from other participating countries.
We focused on the importance of framing migration in a positive light, as well as on the role of media and communications in shaping public perceptions of migration. We discussed the need to counteract negative stereotypes and misinformation about migrants, and to highlight the contributions that migrants make to their host societies.
As we move forward with the project, we look forward to continued collaboration with our partners in this important effort to re-frame the way we talk about people on the move. Our hope is that through our work, we can create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for migrants, one that recognizes the value and diversity they bring to our societies.
