"Spread the Culture!" has been a week-long Project that has brought many young people from different countries and backgrounds together with a specific purpose: talk about culture. Groups of seven people from Serbia, North Macedonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Spain arrived on the 12th of march to the hosting KulturHaus in the middle of the woods in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. We had the opportunity to explore the beautiful nature in the area while getting to know each other on the first days. Then, we started discussing cultures. The activities had a practical approach, implementing non formal as well as informal methods of learning in order to transmit a clear and powerful message to the participants. Through games, roleplays, theatre activities, and debates we went deeper into the topic. One of the most remarkable things were the opportunities that this project gave us in order to exchange knowledge and experiences. For example, every day one of the national groups was responsible for helping in the kitchen – adding their country’s flavour to our dishes and letting us get more familiar with their cuisine. Moreover, we celebrated intercultural nights, during which every national team introduced their own culture with dances, typical dishes, traditional music, etc. We also had the chance to go to Bremen and interview local people and foreigners about their insights on German culture. This activity allowed us to discuss with them the Erasmus+ projects, in order to spread the message. Through this project, we realised that people have different opportunities depending on their living situations, and many times they are set apart in society for things they have no control over, like race and gender. All in all, we have been able not only to discover other cultures and what they consist of but also to be more tolerant towards each other by developing our intercultural competence. I am grateful to this experience and Diyarbakır ÇEVKA that the organization has been given the chance to me! Everyone should experience an Erasmus+ project at least for once :)
