Fairness Project

Fairness Project

4 Yıl Önce

Hi everyone! My name is Zuhal and I am 20 years old. I live in Istanbul, Turkey and I am studying Sociology at Istanbul Şehir University. Firstly, I want to give some details about the Fairness Erasmus+ Project. We were 60 people from 6 beautiful countries. Those countries were; England, Macedonia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Denmark and Turkey. Our main topic was Gender Equality but we talked about almost everything that effecting us as young people. Such as climate change, racism, xenophobia, prejudices and so on. My main goal was to make friends from different backgrounds but I was not so sure if that could be possible just in one week but besides achieving that goal we came so much closer than I was hoping to. I will talk about more what we did every day but before that, I want to talk about what I learn from this project. To start with, I had a chance to learn what other young people from different countries know about my country and what kind of prejudices they have. I also had a chance to correct my misinformation about their countries. Another thing is that, I had a chance to discuss about the universal problems in universal environment and I think this was something that expanded my vision. Lastly, it was important and hopeful for me to see that even though there is so many discriminations and inequalities happening around the world, there is still hope about the future through young generations. Secondly, I want to talk about the activities we did every day. Throughout our days in project, together we accomplished so many tasks and we played İce-Breaker Games every day making us get to know each other better. We had different groups for every activity and we made short films, dreamed about our ideal countries and of course travelled around Copenhagen and get to know Danish people better. At nights, we had Culture Nights and we get to know our countries better. We tried out traditional foods, folk dances and so on. I think we were so lucky because it is a kind of one life chance to get to know each other cultures’ from first hand. Lastly, I want to thank Diyarbakır Environment and Development Association to give us such a chance. See you soon in another project! :)
